Active homeroom is located in the gym. It is open to students in grades 3-8 from when the school doors open until 2 minutes before the bell rings (7:45-8:08). Students have the opportunity to be active, socialize, and get stronger. Students are introduced to active homeroom in PE class. Student can choose one on more of the following; strength stations, walking/running/riding track. In strength stations we train strength because through strength we gain endurance, but not vice versa (AKA more bang for the buck). Students are taught that the #1 goal of all training is to avoid injury, and the second goal is to get stronger. Stations change periodically to develop new strengths and skills. The strength stations are located in the center of the gym leaving the perimeter free for us to use as a track for running, walking, and riding. Equipment to ride currently includes, kick scooters, skateboards, free line skates, castor boards, and a unicycle. To ride students need to bring their own helmet or bring something to cover their hair to borrow a school helmet.
